How to Play Ultimate Tic-Tac-Toe
The goal is to win three of the nine large boards in a row, just like in regular Tic-Tac-Toe.
- Your Move Sends Your Opponent: The square you play in determines which of the nine large boards your opponent must play in next. For example, if you play in the top-left square of a small board, your opponent must play in the top-left large board.
- Winning a Large Board: You win a large board by getting three of your marks in a row (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally) within one of the small boards. When you win a board, it is marked with your symbol (X or O).
- The "Wild Card" Rule: If your opponent sends you to a large board that has already been won or is full (a draw), you get a "wild card." You may then play your move on any open square on the entire 9x9 grid.
- Strategy: Think ahead! Every move has two purposes: trying to win the small board you're in, and sending your opponent to a board that is bad for them. Sometimes, it's better to sacrifice a small board to gain a strategic advantage elsewhere.
